Welcome to Blue Cave Studios.

Blue Cave Studios is a small project studio owned and operated by Darryl Gregory and is located in quiet Sandy Hook, CT.

History

I began recording with my four track deck in 1998 when I decided that I wanted to make a full length CD of my own music. Little did I know what I was in for. I knew I didn’t want to go to a large studio because I wanted to take my time and try different things out. You can’t do that in a studio unless someone else is paying, you’re a rich rock star or you own the studio. I decided that I needed to ‘own’ the studio.

I learned a lot from that first project, mostly what not to do and I acquired a lot more gear that started to cramp my small apartment in Manhattan. I then realized that there were many indie musicians in the same boat as me: Indies who needed to record a CD without spending a ton of money and without the clock ticking away at their back and still come out of the studio with quality tracks.

In 2005 my family moved to Connecticut and I built a studio in the basement of my home, painted it a deep blue and opened Blue Cave Studios. I still have the same mission: To record independent musicians at a reasonable cost and provide high quality along the way.

As I have produced musicians over the years I have also found that many need guidance, so I’ve tried to incorporate a philosophy of education into my business  practice to help those who are just starting out navigate the many opportunities and choices that they have available to them.

There are so many songwriters and musicians out there that are waiting for the right time to record. The right time is now – so let’s press the button and record it!
